A 3 bed 1 bath Ranch style property in the Californian desert.
Previous owners could only be classified as hoarders. The house was re-rendered after replacing windows, adding a sliding door to the kitchen and repairing holes in the walls where window boxes were once fitted. New roof sections were needed which allowed the removal of the swamp cooler and associated ducting littering the roof space. Relining all the interior walls, and ceilings, retiling all the floors, replacing all architraves, skirtings, power points and switches, internal doors, front door and adding recessed lighting dragged this house into the present day. A relay of the kitchen and bathrooms made the house more user and socially friendly and a major overhaul of the landscaping saw the addition of new desert friendly landscaping.
Relining the ceiling and walls, new tiling on the floor, new front door, recessed lighting and new ceiling fan. The layout added space to the room by removing the false hallway created by poor furniture placement.
New wardrobe fit out and mirrored doors added visual space to an already a decent sized second bedroom. Ceiling and walls relined, new carpeting and recessed lighting finished this space nicely.
The shower area in the ensuite was so dark that its seemed obvious to replace the tiled off area with glass doors. Using the existing plumbing made redoing this area quite easy and affordable.
Larger format tiles made the room feel bigger and the new decor had a mid century vibe.
The addition of a pool and jacuzzi seemed obvious in an area that reaches 40c+ temps for weeks on end. A new set of sliding doors gave more morning light to the kitchen and easier pool access from indoors. Desert landscaping means very low maintenance year round.
Reconfiguring the wardrobe space allowed for a home office area in the second bedroom.
The main bathroom was too small for the spa bath the last owners added. A complete bathroom fit out without moving plumbing made this an affordable make over for this space.
The master bedroom has sliding doors to access the outdoor shower area in the back garden area. The room was already generously sized and could take a king bed and two oversized bedside tables.
The additional sliding door facing the pool brings in light and allows easier outdoor access, as well as having the visual appeal of being able to see the pool from the dining space.
West facing street frontage. New driveway, garage door, render, front door, screen, letter box and landscaping turned the ugliest house in the street to the most streamlined and elegant.
